Farm Membership

What You Get When You Become a Farm Member at Twiddle Dee Farm

Farmland Preservation

A Personal Note from the Owner

I often get asked:  "What exactly do I get with my farm membership?"  Below I will list the benefits that come with membership.  But before I do that, I want to point out the most important result of someone directly supporting a farmer is simply this:  farmland preservation.   North Carolina is losing its farmland at an astonishing rate.  By becoming a farm member, you are doing your part to reverse that trend.  By helping to sustain this Twiddle Dee farmer, you sustain the farmland.  And what a beautiful 100+-year-old farm it is!

A Farm Well-Designed with You in Mind

An Opportunity to Experience Up Close

Our generation built the infrastructure of this farm.  And, in designing it, we kept you in mind.

Our fences are strong and secure.  That's why we felt comfortable winding our pathways through the paddocks.  As a member, you have the chance to get up close and personal with the livestock.  You have a vantage point to  observe and learn.

Our trails wind down to a pond and creek, through a wooded preserve that is certified as a wildlife habitat.  We keep and maintain this natural habitat.

Our farming activities are framed with beautiful flower and veggie gardens. Plus, along the edge of the paths, we planted fruit and nut trees.  Even though Twiddle Dee is a working farm, we still pay attention to its beauty.

The old homeplace, used as the Welcome Center for the farm, provides you with a heated/cooled facility with a restroom, a kitchen with refrigerator, lounge areas, and a television.  In addition,  you'll find tables, chairs, umbrellas, and commercially-licensed, streaming music at the large brick courtyard.  We made your experience here a top priority.

Events

Yours or Ours

In the past, we've hired entertainment; hosted luncheons;  shown movies on our 10 feet by 8 feet outdoor screen; provided snacks and food, and held farm tours.  All of these activities were at no cost to our farm members.

With the pandemic came changes.  We no longer offer events ourselves.  But if you feel comfortable with your own small group, then we make our facilities and equipment available to you.  Do you need our stage?  What about our projector, screen, or audio equipment?  What about tables and chairs?  And do you need our help?

We want you to feel as if this farm were your own.  After all, you are helping us and future generations be good stewards of it.

Small Perks

Tailored to Your Desires

We have a tiny retail shop set in the woods here at the farm.  It is open only to farm members; and it is filled with beautiful items.  So if you need a quick gift, here's your easy-breezy opportunity.  If you want to practice your yoga away from the crowds, the farm is waiting.  If you want to refresh your skills at riding a bicycle, we've got two available for your use.  Plus there is the Enchanted Forest Trail, with figures carved from a pecan tree harvested right here on the farm, plus more.

The farm is open roughly seven days a week, 365 days a year, from about 7am til 11pm.  It's your escape.  It's your refuge.   It's for our farm members.  And we keep the number of farm members small.  So there are no large human crowds here, no high livestock stocking rates.  That's good for us and the environment.

And there's more.  We now make available our guest house and campsites to our farm members.  For more information,
